We have now tried a few Vegan Chocolate Buttons and the Ombar Cocomylk Buttons are among our favourites. Now, there are many chocolate buttons available on the market, but what is so special about these?
We really like that they use raw cacao from Equador. Equador is known for some of the best tasting cacao in the world. As you might know, most chocolate is made by roasting cacao at a very high temperature, which can damage some of the polyphenols (which have health benefits) in the cacao. However, Ombar´s cacao goes through a low-temperature roasting process, which generally is a sign of high quality.
We also like that the chocolate buttons are Certified Organic and Fairtrade. Some chocolates are only packed in the UK (and made in another country), but the Ombar buttons are completely made in a small factory in Cambridge, which is another bonus, as this product is completely UK made! As they contain raw cacao, they also contain live cultures, which have health benefits as well.
Due to the high cocoa content they melt really well in the mouth and are a product we can just recommend. If you cannot have any nuts in your diet, please avoid these. While they do not contain any nuts in the ingredients list, they may contain traces of nut. This is possibly because they are made in a factory in which nuts are processed as well.
Ingredients: coconut sugar*, raw cacao*, creamed coconut*, cocoa butter*, ground vanilla pods*, live culture: Lactobacillus acidophilus. *certified organic. Cocoa solids 55% minimum.
