I have often been asked the question of what some special vegan sweets are. To be honest, this is a difficult question as there are no typical vegan sweets. Due to the introduction of various plant-based "milks" and gelatin substitutes, many "traditional" sweets can just be replaced with vegan alternatives without any major problems.
Some examples are:
1) Gummy bears
Traditional ingredient: gelatin
Vegan substitute: agar agar or pectin
2) Chocolate
Traditional ingredient: Cows milk
Vegan subsitute: Rice or oat "milk"
3) Biscuits/cookies/cake
Traditional ingredient 1: Eggs
Vegan substitute: Egg replacer or carob flour or soya "milk" or chia seeds
Traditional ingredient 2: Butter
Vegan substitute: plant-based butter
The main challenge when baking a vegan cake is to get a feeling for the vegan substitutes if you have never used them before. You need to learn what works and how much you need. I can really recommend carob flour, which also works well when you make a vegan creamy sauce, as it works well as thickener.
The above list really shows that there are good substitutes for all key ingredients. It just takes some more time, I guess, until vegan chocolates taste exactly as "traditional" chocolates. If I think back a few years, there were far less vegan sweets available, so it just needs a bit more patience.
